Fairmont Raffles is a global leader in the luxury hotel segment with 123 hotels, including 32 wholly and partially owned properties and 91 managed hotels across the world. The Company operates under four brands; Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Inc, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Swissotel Hotels and Delta Hotels Limited.

Following the 1994 investment in Fairmont Hotels Management, KHC helped to restructure Fairmont Hotels and to refine its strategy. Prince Alwaleed joined with Colony Capital, LLC, a private international investment firm controlled by Thomas J Barrack Jr, in 2006 to take Fairmont private and to combine it with Raffles. KHC led this transaction in addition to the subsequent repositioning of Fairmont Raffles as a global manager of luxury hotels. KHC also used its ability to borrow against its listed assets to fund the Fairmont Raffles transaction with Colony Capital. The Company has been active in assisting Fairmont Raffles in obtaining a number of new management contracts, including with KHI. Currently, five of the 18 existing hotels owned by KHI are managed by Fairmont Raffles. In addition, Fairmont Raffles is managing 4 of the 8 stand-alone hotels owned by the Company, including the Savoy and the Plaza.

Fairmont Raffles intends to continue to sell its real estate assets to focus on its management business and will also seek to expand its management portfolio. It currently has a pipeline of 40 announced projects representing more than 11,600 rooms. It intends to capitalise on the strength of its brands by expanding in markets where these brands are underrepresented. In particular, Fairmont Raffles intends to further leverage its relationships with KHI and KHC to expand in the Middle East and other emerging markets and in the US and Europe.
