National industrializationCompany (TASNEE)

TASNEE represents a special situation investment. The Prince acquired an interest in TASNEE in 1995. Following the investment, a new board was appointed and a new chief executive was selected. TASNEE implemented structural changes, the disposal of non-core assets and new cost-containment policies. TASNEE also entered into a series of mergers that significantly increased the scale of its business and improved its share price. TASNEE is currently one of the leading industrial companies within the Middle East.

TASNEE was established in 1985 to promote or participate in projects across various industries including chemical and petrochemical, plastic, engineering and industrial services. In 2006, TASNEE acquired a 51 percent in National Petrochemical Industrialization Company (NPIC), a holding company with investments in a number of petrochemical projects. In 2006, TASNEE generated income of SR 693.1 million, increasing by 87% compared to 2005. As of 31 December 2006, its net assets were SR5.6 billion compared to SR2.1 billion in 2005. KHC owns 21,602,010 shares of TASNEE, representing 6.2 percent of its outstanding shares.

Since its establishment, TASNEE has diversified its presence in several industrial sectors through its investments in more than 50 companies. In recent years, TASNEE has focused on the petrochemical sector in Saudi Arabia, which has a significant global advantage due to its vast oil reserves. TASNEE's strategy is to develop into a major global petrochemical company through additional projects and acquisitions. Based on the relationship with TASNEE's management, KHC expects to continue to be offered the opportunity to co-invest in TASNEE's industrial projects in the future. In particular, KHC believes that there will be investment opportunities in the petrochemicals sector and the potential to participate in initial public offerings of industrial projects.
