KHC holds a controlling interest in The Plaza, one of New York’s most distinctive landmarks. The hotel underwent a $400 million renovation and KHC announced its re-opening in 2009, and placed it under Fairmont Hotels and Resorts management. Previous owners included Conrad Hilton and Donald Trump.
Built in 1907, the Plaza Hotel is a New York icon and one of only two New York hotels accorded National Historic Landmark status. It is among New York’s grandest addresses, with 282 distinctive guest rooms including 102 luxurious suites. Residential properties have been added in the past decade.
The hotel has been featured in countless films and works of literature, from Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest to Kay Thompson’s 1950s-era books for children featuring Eloise, a little girl who lived at the Plaza.
