HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, received at his office on Wednesday 2nd April 2014, HE Dr. Paulo Portas, Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal and an accompanying delegation that included HE Dr. José Cesário, Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities (MoFA), HE Dr. Pedro Gonçalves, Secretary of State for Innovation, Investment & Competitiveness, HE Prof. Doctor Nuno Vieira e Brito, Secretary of State for Food and Agri-food Research, HE Dr. Manuel Ferreira Teixeira, Sec. State for Health, HE Mr. Manuel Carvalho, Portuguese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Pedro Reis, President AICEP (Trade Promotion Agency), Prof. Doctor António Cunha, Rector University of Minho; Vice-Chairman CRUP, Dr. Eurico Castro Alves, President of INFARMED, Dr. Alexandre Simões, vice-president of APA-Environment Protection Agency.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mohammed Almujadidi, Senior Executive Manager, Office of HRH the chairman, Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the chairman and Mr. Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
The meeting began as Dr. Portas thanked HRH for receiving him. The two touched upon the latest regional and international developments on the social and economic fronts. During the meeting, they also discussed a number of topics related to economic bi-lateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Portugal. Moreover, His Highness hosted a dinner in honor of the Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal and the delegation at Kingdom Resort. Also on the agenda of discussions were investment issues especially in light of Prince Alwaleed’s local, regional and international investments in various sectors such as banking, real estate, media and hotels. Moreover, during the meeting, the Mr. Portas referred to the long and strong friendship Portugal has with Arab countries.
Furthermore, Dr. Portas also referred to investment opportunities in Portugal and commended Prince Alwaleed on his achievements that have propelled the wheel of economic development. In response, His Highness welcomed the idea to invest in Portugal and promised to visit the country in the near future. Prince Alwaleed’s investments in Portugal through KHC include Citigroup in the financial sector and Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon in the hotels sector.
