Prince Alwaleed Receives Ethiopian Ambassador to Discuss Economic Issues

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received at his office, HE Mr. Mohammed Hassen Kebira, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Saudi Arabia who was accompanied by Mr. Zelalem Birhan Alemu, Minister Counselor. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.


The meeting began as the Ambassador thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. During the meeting the two discussed economic and investment issues. The Ambassador commended Prince Alwaleed on his local, regional and international investments. The Ambassador also commended His Highness on his continuous humanitarian contributions to the people of Ethiopia and those in need worldwide.


In 2003 Prince Alwaleed had donated through Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global that is chaired by His Highness, shipments of humanitarian aid to Ethiopia to help alleviate the suffering of Ethiopians during the drought and famine crisis there. Ethiopia had been suffering from a sharp decline in precipitation and a severe shortage of other water resources.


The donation–weighing 105 tons comprised of food supplies boxed in 5,250 individual containers. Each box contained non-perishable foodstuffs including sugar, rice, wheat, edible oil, and powdered milk. Three cargo planes airlifted the donation from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Addis Ababa’s Airport in Ethiopia, where it was received by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Ethiopia.
