With the expected rise in the demand for healthcare in Saudi Arabia over the course of the next 2 decades, this new project will increase patients’ access to an evidence-based healthcare as it is expected to accommodate more than one million outpatient visits a year. KH project’s insignia “Expanding Excellence… Building Today for Tomorrows Healthcare” reflects how the hospital envisions its role in the healthcare market in Saudi Arabia and the region. The project demonstrates a rethinking of the use of the physical and technological infrastructure and design to improve the patient’s experience and to enable the hospitals clinical and administrative staff to work in an environment that exemplifies their professional and medical expertise.
The project will be developed over the next 3 years with a total build-up area of 85,000 sqm. The major components of the expansion will include:
- Specialized outpatient clinics to accommodate one million visits a year
- A added patient-bed tower, including the addition of 150 new private rooms
- State-of-the-art operating rooms and day surgical services areas
- An expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center which will double in size to accommodate more than 100,000 adult and pediatric visit
- Two levels underground parking
Since its inception in year 2000, KH has provided a fully comprehensive range of outpatient, emergency and inpatient services delivered at international standards of care supported by latest technology, all within a compassionate environment. In 2011, KH has completed an expansion plan on the existing campus doubling its bed capacity, and adding an advanced Heart Center equipped with a state-of the art cardiac cath lab and coronary cardiac care unit, a pediatric ward, a surgical ward, and a special pavilion for patients who want to avail themselves of healthcare in a luxurious environment. KH is an accredited healthcare provider by the Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) for its compliance with the national hospital standards for quality.
KH, in the north of Riyadh, is one of the most advanced private hospitals in Saudi Arabia offering medical care using the latest equipment. The hospital is yet another of Prince Alwaleed’s numerous achievements.
Consulting Clinics (CC) is located at the intersection of Takhassussi and Makkah roads. Established in 1986 by Dr. Mustafa Ghandour and Dr. Fayez Takieddine, the aim was to provide superior quality medical care. CC started with only six consultants and four departments and had only 4,000 registered patient files. Today, CC boasts a staff of over 40 consultants covering all medical fields and has over 150,000 registered patient files. CC has a highly qualified staff encompassing handpicked consultants with specialized training. Physicians are either American Board certified or are fellows of the Royal College in Britain. Some doctors are also French certified. They all attend national and international conferences and seminars on a regular basis to stay abreast of the latest medical findings and procedures.
With the finalization of the merger, KH and CC will be offering advanced and specialized medical services that shall be announced in due course. There will be a comprehensive plan to establish a network of medical centers throughout Riyadh, with the hopes of expanding such services country-wide in the future, Allah Willing. Currently, the number of patients at both locations is around 250,000 patients and is expected to increase.
KH will now offer comprehensive medical services employing advanced equipment and expertise in family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery. The hospital’s department for rheumatology and rehabilitation is the first such specialized department in Riyadh. As for its emergency room and intensive care unit, it applies the high standards of the American college for trauma physicians.
Complementing these services is KH’s luxury hotel services, a first in Saudi Arabia. The new features offer an interactive, remote-controlled entertainment system in every patient room to access 53 television satellite channels, educational programs, the internet, e-mail, and fax service for businessmen, educational and entertainment programs for children, as well as instant staff and physician paging service.
